Fire Damages Allied Gardens Home

SAN DIEGO -- Clothes left on a lamp sparked a fire that damaged a single-story house in Allied Gardens Monday, but the occupants escaped unharmed, authorities said.

The blaze at 4792 Allied Road was reported at 7:37 a.m., according to a San Diego Fire-Rescue Department dispatcher. Firefighters had gained the upper hand on the fire by 7:50 a.m., she said.

Property loss was estimated at $25,000, according to the dispatcher.
